Toad Globy: Mesogobius batrachocephalus

Finally got the first two fishes for my Dniester Biotope project. They are knout goby or toad goby. Scientific name is Mesogobius batrachocephalus. Pretty scary looking guys. They can get up to 34.5 centimetres (13.6 in for our Yank friends). They can live in fully marine, brackish and totally freshwater. I got mine straight out of Dniester River. Totally freshwater.

This is the larger Toad Goby

Another photo of the bigger guy.  Check out the freshwater sponge (Spongilla fluviatilis) at the back.  Yes, it's real and it's alive )))
